Are You Eating High-Quality Protein?

February 17, 2014

In fact, many Americans are trying to get more protein in their diets, and 20 percent of adults are working toward that by checking labels and changing their eating habits.

While most people meet their protein needs on a daily basis, some, like athletes, aging adults and those trying to manage their weight, may benefit from enjoying more protein but still within recommended ranges and calorie needs. Enjoying protein after resistance exercise can help build and maintain muscle and help minimize muscle loss as we age. Diets higher in protein can help curb hunger and help support weight management.

Protein is naturally found in a number of foods, but the amount and quality in foods varies. Incorporating more high-quality protein foods, such as milk, cheese and yogurt, can make smart food choices easy and can help you get protein your body needs.
