Whether it’s running the kids to their extracurricular activities, grinding through spin class or pushing through that last hour of work, solid nutrition can help people power through the day. Providing your body and brain with energy doesn’t have to take a lot of time. Use food to fuel your day with these easy and convenient strategies:

1. Eat breakfast! Eating a breakfast that includes high quality protein, can help power you through your day. It can also help fuel your performance for work, exercise or anything else you need to take on during the day. Some experts recommend eating 25 to 30 grams of protein at each meal to help achieve a higher protein diet

2. Eat lunch and dinner too! Lunch and dinner sometimes get forgotten when talking about breakfast, but they are also very important. Avoid skipping meals to help maintain a consistent pattern of eating. Try these easy lunches for when you’re on the go:

3. Consume a nutritious snack for mid-day energy. Milk, cheese, and yogurt are a good source of protein. Snacking on these foods, as part of a higher protein diet, can help curb hunger. Here are a few easy snack examples:

  • 1 ½ cups low-fat chocolate milk and ¼ cup of almonds (23 g protein, 53 g carbs)
  • 6 oz. Greek Yogurt, ½ cup of granola, and 1 cup of blueberries (22 g protein, 41 g carbs)
  • 1 string cheese, 1 cup of apple slices, ¼ cup of pretzels and 2 tbsp. of peanut butter (20 g protein, 70 g carbs)
  • 2 scrambled eggs with ¼ cup of Cheddar cheese, 1 whole wheat tortilla and ½ cup of plain yogurt topped with 1 cup of raspberries (28 g protein, 40 g carbs)
