Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has accepted the role of President and CEO of the U.S. Dairy Export Council, according to the Des Moines Register.
This move comes after the Secretary stepped down Friday as the head of the Department of Agriculture, a role he held for eight years.
In this role, Vilsack will focus on creating new markets for dairy by working on trade barriers.
The Dairy Export Council connects more than 100 organizations within the dairy community to build global sales of U.S. dairy foods and products.
The Dairy Export Council’s previous president, Tom Suber, retired at the end of 2016 after leading the organization since it was created in 1995.
