Lana Frantzen, Ph.D.

Dr. Frantzen is Vice President of Health & Wellness with Dairy MAX and supports the National Dairy Council Health & Wellness Team.  She earned her Ph.D. in nutrition from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Texas in Austin. 

Lana previously worked at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and the Social and Health Research Center in San Antonio.  She worked with multidisciplinary teams and low-income, food insecure communities. She specialized in pediatric and maternal nutrition as well as cultural health issues.

Lana has proudly represented dairy for sixteen years.  As part of the National Dairy Council and Dairy MAX teams, she serves as a national and local media spokesperson.  She has co-hosted satellite media tours and events with celebrities such as Food Network celebrity chef, Melissa D’Arabian, former Dallas Cowboys, DeMarcus Ware and Jay Novacek, and most recently country music singer, Sara Evans.  Lana has enjoyed conveying nutrition science into action steps for traditional and social media including numerous television, radio, print, online interviews, blogs and presentations.  She serves as a national health professional liaison with the National Hispanic Medical Association and is dedicated to improving the health of the Hispanic community.  She has published research in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that investigated the role of breakfast and dietary intakes of Hispanic children with low socioeconomic status.  She is also responsible for strategic development and implementation of nutrition education initiatives including bilingual nutrition education for educators, health professionals, and key leaders in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.  Lana enjoys taking constantly evolving, complex nutrition research and transforming it into easy-to-understand, practical information that people can utilize to make their lives healthy and well-balanced.
